We are sad to update that Joan sadly passed away on the 15th April just one month after celebrating her 100th birthday

Joan Holmes 100th Birthday – 9th March 2026

We would like to wish a very happy 100th Birthday to Joan Holmes (nee Rigby)

Joan joined the WRNS on the 12th August 1947 and served on HMS President then on to HMS Vulture October 1947. She had a brief spell away October 1950 but re-joined March 1951finally leaving in March 1955

She was a very loyal hard working lady all her life, even though she went blind she remained very independent for years until dementia meant she needed to be cared for in a nursing home where she currently resides
