June Mary Willmott (nee Bond) served 1950-1962 – Writer (G)

June joined the WRNS in 1950 having been encouraged to do so by her father who was serving as a Regular in the Royal Navy.  She initially trained as a Stenographer and through promotion to Petty Officer moved to General duties.  As a Wren she marched in the Queen’s Coronation Parade in Winchester, playing the Euphonium in the military band; she served in Malta, meeting General Montogomery; saw the wedding cavalcade of Princess Grace and Prince Ranier in Monaco; and she met Gracie Fields at her villa in Capri, enjoying an afternoon swimming in the pool and joining in with a celebrity BBQ!  She met and made friendships which literally lasted a lifetime, and saw her travelling, right up to the age of 89, to regular Association reunions and gatherings across the UK.

June sadly passed away on the 24th January 2025 aged 94
