Joan Stevenson nee Ozanne RIP

Joan Stevenson nee Ozanne died on the 30th November 2021 aged 92. The time she served in the WRNS was one of the happiest times of her life and she was always keen to recall it.

She was stationed in Plymouth, Lossiemouth, Abbotsinch, Culdrose and Malta, returning back home to Portsmouth.  For most of her Naval career she was responsible for the domestic arrangements within the Mess (she had trained at Edinburgh College of Domestic Science) but her last posting was as a recruiting officer in Newcastle. There she met Eric and they were married in 1972 and she left the WRNS.

Joan and Eric remained in Northumberland for a short while but then moved south and settled in the area of Joan’s childhood close to Bury St Edmunds. She was a keen supporter of the sea scouts in Bury St Edmunds and met up with fellow members of the WRNS Association.
