It was a proud moment for Cpl Bugler Kim Hare, and indeed all of us this weekend as she became the first female Drum Major in the Royal Marines Band Service.
Kim led the Scotland Band firstly for the 125th anniversary of the Bo’ness Children’s Fair Festival, and then for a Beating Retreat in Peebles performing to the crowds on Armed Forces Day.
Members of the band also took time to pay their respects to Harcus Strachan, who was awarded the Victoria Cross in November 1917. His sister was the very first Bo’ness Fair Queen those 125 years ago.
