I joined the WRNS 18 September 1978 (the one date we all remember) and spent a wonderful 9 years as a Wren (Radar), rising to the dizzy heights of Leading Wren, serving at HMS Dryad, Dolphin and Warrior. I left in 1987 on pregnancy, as was the case in those days.
I have been one of the organisers of the Dauntless Reunions and many of you who attended may know me from these weekends.
I studied for my degree with the Open University which I extol the virtues of to anyone who will listen as it gave me a great deal of self-worth.
I have recently retired from working at HMP Winchester as a Programme Manager and IT teacher and I am presently training to become a SSAFA Volunteer Caseworker to fill my time, amongst the craft work (knitting and crochet), gardening, reading and sorting out other people’s IT problems, as if I haven’t got enough to do!
