Christabel Marguerite Watson nee Brannan – Died 10th August 2026

Our mother was a very proud member of the Association of Wrens and was a standard bearer for the Cardigan branch for many years, well into her 70’s and until she was physically unable to carry the standard anymore. Very reluctantly having to give it up we might add.

Wren Brannan served 1956 – 1959 as Wren SW/OPS at

HMS Dauntless (Shorebase) for training 1956; trained for Switch Board (Telephonist) Pt. 1 at St. Beaudeaux (Devonport) Plymouth. Then attached to HMS Drake (RNB). Completed Pt. 1 training. Then Pt. 2 training at HMS Raleigh, Torpoint, Plymouth. Drafted to HMS Harrier (Shorebase) at Dale West Wales. R. N. Radar/ Air Control/Met. Training worked on Switchboard with a group of 8 other Wren’s SW/OPS.

Mum served a further year before being released on marriage grounds. Here, she met and married the love of her life Able Seaman (Radar) Richard Bamford Watson whom we also sadly lost 11th December 2025.
