The Royal British Legion’s March Past the Cenotaph 2026

Travel information – Remembrance Sunday free rail service on Sunday 8th November 2026

We can confirm the following agreements are in place for rail travel this year on Remembrance Sunday:

  • For those attending the Service of Remembrance at the Cenotaph, free rail travel is allowed to any London Terminal station on Saturday 7th November or Sunday 8th November and returning from any London Terminal on Sunday 8th November only.
  • Free return rail travel is also available on Sunday 8th November for those wishing to attend a Service of Remembrance outside London, provided they are not also travelling to the Cenotaph.
  • Free rail travel is allowed for current serving military personnel travelling in uniform or carrying a current MOD90 Ministry Defence-issued identity card.
  • Free rail travel is allowed for veterans carrying a Veterans Railcard, Veterans Oyster card, MOD-issued Veterans ID or other appropriate form of identification showing the customer is a veteran (e.g., proof of pension).
  • Free rail travel is available to those who have been bereaved in Service and have already been issued a free rail pass through Defence Medical Welfare Service. When travelling, the holder must carry their complimentary ticket and photographic identification, such as a passport or driving licence. The photo identification must match the name shown on the travel pass. We recognise the enduring sacrifice made by bereaved military families and hope this offer makes it easier for those who wish to attend acts of remembrance and pay tribute to the Service person they have lost.

Some routes may have improvement works taking place, please check before you travel.
