Wrens Out Walking – 100th Anniversary Initiative

This is your chance to be a part of an international enterprise to raise awareness of the Association’s 100th Anniversary together with your individual opportunity to raise funds.

We are challenging all AOW branches, informal groups and individuals, to organise a walking event in their local area; your impact could be huge. We have put together an easy to follow guide which it is hoped will help you with your planning. The rule of thumb is don’t make it complicated keep it safe and simple. 

Once you have identified a walking event in 2019 or 2020, make sure you advise the Association Office so that it can be promulgated on the ‘Events Calendar’ on our website and FB page.  You never know who may join you.

There will be guidance from start to finish from WO1 Barbara McGregor, a Trustee of the AOW and CWO of the Naval Careers Service. You will be supplied with a pack that contains all the important information to ensure a safe and trouble-free event. This will be distributed from AOW HQ to the organiser of each event when they register..

WOW LAUNCH 

On Saturday 6th July 2019 the Wrens Out Walking venture will launch with a 10 mile+ walk from ORNC Greenwich to The Tower of London, taking in the Imperial War Museum, the Houses of Parliament, St Mary Le Strand Church – the official church of the WRNS – and other well-known landmarks. The finer details will be posted on the AOW website & FB Events page after the recce is completed at the end of April.. We welcome anyone who would like to join us, be it for the whole or part of the walk.
