We are Made By Mortals, a theatre company based in Tameside, Greater Manchester. We are looking for veterans of the Armed Forces to help us create a new ‘Armchair Adventures’ podcast. Our podcasts have already reached almost 10,000 people and have even featured on BBC Radio 4!
Armchair Adventures is a series of podcasts that takes listeners on a journey of the imagination. It is created by older people for children. Using shared and individual experiences, we work with a team of podcast specialists to create a script and music, and then use these to produce our own podcast.
The finished podcast will be shared with our audience of podcast listeners and together we will run online workshops for school children. An activity pack will also be created to complement the podcast, 100 of which will be sent to other veterans and their families, allowing the whole community to listen and join in with us.
Social distancing doesn’t have to mean social isolation. Starting on Wednesday 24 Februaryand running every Wednesday morning for 9 weeks, any veteran of the Armed Forces is welcome to sign up. All sessions will be virtual and run using Zoom video software – via a laptop, tablet, mobile phone or even a standard telephone.
No experience is needed – all we ask is for a willingness to get involved, share stories and experiences, and a bit of imagination.
