On This Day in 1940, RNAS Yeovilton commissioned as HMS HERON. The Fleet Air Arm base has been in constant use since and home to many units and squadrons of aircraft from Royal Navy and Army Air Corps to this day, including Wildcat and Commando Helicoper forces. Happy 80th Birthday 🎂
