On This Day in 2016 Dame Marion Kettlewell died aged 102. She entered the WRNS in 1941 as a driver (for then Vice Admiral Max Horton) and rose to the rank of Commandant and was Director of the Women’s Royal Naval Service from 1967 to 1970 when she retired.
