On This Day 1753, the first patients were admitted to the Royal Hospital Haslar Gosport, at the time the largest brick building in Europe.

Renamed as the Royal Naval Hospital Haslar in 1954, it was the last military hospital in UK when it closed in 2009. It’s now a luxury development.
