Message from Chairman AOW

VE Day – 8th May 2020

On the eve of the 75th Anniversary of VE Day all of us in the Association of Wrens salute those of you who served during WWII and helped the gain the freedom that this country has enjoyed up until now.

The Coronavirus pandemic will pass but your efforts will always linger on and ensure that this Country remains a Nation of ‘doers and achievers’ – you are the backbone that tomorrow we will commemorate.

It is hoped that, despite nearly all the planned celebrations for tomorrow having been cancelled, I ask that all AOW Members will in some way remember the WWII Victory, wearing medals with pride and with humility – and taking part in the two minutes silence at 11am

During this time we must not only pay homage to our VE Day Veterans but also remember those who have passed before us and who represented the WRNS and our Country with total dedication and integrity.

Hopefully, this time next year we can enjoy a  belated VE Day of celebration but in the meantime may I wish everyone of you a day of thoughtfulness tomorrow.

Ladies of WWII – we love and respect you all.

 Jill Stellingworth

Chairman

Association of Wrens
