Photos and news from the regions as AOW members meet together to mark the various annual events in this significant year

Sad news to report that the 30th and last annual Service of Commemoration for HMS BLACKCAP, Stretton was held on 3rd June 2018.. Margaret Wall (Bowring Park) believed that she was the  only Wren there. The service included The Navy Hymn (Fleet Air Arm version) the Wren’s Prayer, and The Fleet Air Arm Prayer. In the adjoining graveyard there is a mention of a ‘Wren AE McCormick official number 15423, dated 31st May 1943’. She was killed along with two other Wrens in a road accident involving an RN Tilley. The RN graves are tended by the local RBL. www.historicaviation.com
