Happy 100th Birthday!

Many congratulations to Christian Lamb nee (Oldham) who celebrates her 💯. birthday today 🍾🎁

In 1939 Christian initially worked at the Kensington WRNS training establishment, and as a L/Wren was drafted as Degaussing Recorder in Charge for ships entering the Thames, based in Coalhouse Fort. Promotion followed to Third Officer in the Plotting Room at Plymouth, monitoring RN and enemy shipping movements along the whole UK West coast. When the station moved to Liverpool, Christian was invited to join the Ops Room at Belfast Castle and following this (and marriage) she was selected to work at the RN Command HQ in Whitehall on maps for the planned D-Day landings. She said “it was intense and exciting work and obviously important to be detailed and accurate”. We’ve also shared her story in the Spring Wren magazine.
