Happy 100th Birthday Sylvia!

Many happy returns to Sylvia Dyde (nee Murley) on her 100th birthday today.

The lovely pictures were sent to us by her granddaughter, Caroline Meaby, who informed us that Sylvia is a very proud ex-Wren, who served in Portsmouth, Egypt and finally at HMS Anderson in Colombo, where she was a Leading Wren. She was intercepting signals and sending information back to Bletchley Park. The group photo shows the Officers Stewards at HMS Defiance in 1940 plus Sylvia on demobbing. Sylvia has a remarkable memory telling endless stories about her time with the Wrens and was a keen member of the London branch until it was disbanded.
