The Trustees of the Association hereby call for nominations for the office of Chairman. Completed forms should be submitted to the office by 6 September 2024, together with a covering letter and CV as described below. The Trustees will elect the Chairman at their meeting on 21st September 2024 with a view to confirmation in office at the AGM on 12th October 2024.
Nominees must be proposed and seconded by Members of the Association, and confirm their willingness to stand for election. Nominees should ideally have served as a Trustee, but other relevant experience indicating their suitability for the office may be accepted by the Trustees.
The Chairman is required to lead the team of Trustees to run the Association in accordance with the Constitution and any requirements for the good governance of a charity. The office requires effective people skills, including the ability to work in a collaborative, inclusive manner, drawing on the experience and skills of the other Trustees. Good communication is essential. The Chairman is also required to set the strategic direction of the Association, with the agreement of the Trustees. The Chairman also has an important public facing role and may be required to represent the Association at meetings, events and on occasions requiring the presence of a lead office holder. She will be supported in these endeavours by the Trustees, administrative staff and President.
The Terms of Reference for the Chairman are attached.
Nominees should submit the application form together with a covering letter and CV. The covering letter should outline why the candidate would like to be considered for the role as Chairman, what she can bring to the position and her vision for the future. Testimonials and supporting evidence may be submitted but are not essential. The Trustees will then review the nominations and may invite candidates to attend their meeting on 21st September 2024 to provide any further information or make a presentation as required.
Further information may be sought from the current Chairman via the office.
