Members from various areas have kept the flag flying for the Association at military and community events over the past months. Bournemouth Branch supported the Air Show via the AOW stall for FOUR days – thank you!. We were pleased to get a distant shot of HMS DIAMOND in our new ‘feather flag’ shot. ..
They have also enjoyed light hearted get togethers celebrating that unique friendship gained from sharing their service memories and hearing from those who are serving today,

Some of the get-togethers mentioned above and offers received from volunteers to support AOW events have been a result of contact via the informal Wrens FB Group (not administered by AOW).This Group has been a very useful source for increasing membership, finding old friends and generally getting that mess/cabin camaraderie going again.
Commanding Officer of Raleigh bids farewell 3.8.18
The Commanding Officer of HMS Raleigh, Captain Ellie Ablett, has left the establishment for the final time, yesterday, to take up a new post on promotion. Staff and trainees lined the road as Capt Ablett made her departure sitting on a Field Gun limber, which was pulled by members of HMS Raleigh’s Field Gun crew. Earlier she had presented her final commendations to Service and civilian staff in recognition of outstanding work. Royal Navy Media
Capt Ablett became the 42nd Commanding Officer of HMS Raleigh and the first woman to be appointed to the helm of a major Royal Navy training base in September 2016. She is an enthusiastic member of member of AOW.
